There is a beautiful place where two rivers – Vilce and Rukuze overflow. On the shore of the Rukuze you can observe sandstone cliffs; and when you need to quench your thirst, stop by the spring of Lielmāte.

The Nature Park “Vilce” is one the most beautiful places in Zemgale though only 144 hectares large. It is surrounded by human-changed territories, and its main value is distinct river valleys slope and ravine forests and sandstone outcrops. The territory of the Nature Park is narrow and stretches along Vilce river, and since there are steep slopes of Vilce river and other rivers that flow into it, this is one of the picturesque and non-typical for a low land places in Zemgale. Valley of Rūkūze river is specially steep and deep with a number of overfalls, and its banks are decorated by small sandstone outcrops. Maybe it is worth it to try a boat ride?
Vilce as an oasis of Zemgale surprises not only with its unconventional terrain but also with its cultural and historical values. Here you can found Vilce castle mound and Vilce Manor that had been built in the second half of the 18th century and where there is an elementary school since 1929. Here you can walk the Baron pathway telling you about animals who live in forests of Vilce leading the walker to the Vilce castle mound with its foot uncovering sandstone outcrops of Rūkūze river. Here you will find also “Meadow of hares” (Zaķu pļava), which is very popular among nature lovers and holiday makers and which can be reached from Vilce castle mound by crossing a small bridge. This is a perfect place for a picnic and rest with the family! In case you want to hear animals met in the Baron pathway, you can make a tent in this meadow in order to sense the natural beauty even deeper in such an excellent landscape place.

The Vilce Nature Park is small in size and exists alongside the deep valleys of the Vilce River and its tributaries. Biotopes include visible sandstone cliffs, rapids on the rivers, forests typical of such areas, and the plants and animals that are found therein. The well-appointed Vilce castle hill is next to the Zaķu meadow, which is a nicely appointed and popular place for recreation.
