From 1912, when the Jaunjelgava administration house was built, a Lion sculpture was erected in front of it, which was placed above the fountain of the artesian well. During the Soviet occupation, the monuments of statesmen stood in its place, moving the sculpture to the side of the street. In the late 80's, the Lion sculpture was placed in its former place. In 2011, the restored Lion sculpture was unveiled.
