In 2018, a park was established in Kandava in honor of the Latvian linguist Karlis Mīlenbahs (1853–1916). He was born in Kandava region and started school here. The park is located between Kandava K. Mīlenbahs High School and Kandava Lutheran Church. The park has a sundial with a double dial. The clock shows local time and daylight saving time (GMT + 3).
The author of the idea, design and astronomical calculations of the sundial is Mārtiņš Gills, the clock was made by Aivars Oleksāns, SIA “Lakta”. The improvement of the park was performed by SIA “Westbūve”.
