Sesava Lutheran Church

The stone church was built in 1633 to replace the original wooden church that was built in 1567 by order of Gotthard Kettler, the Duke of Courland. The church has typical features of a church of Courland: a rather modest exterior, but much decorated interior with an emphasis on the altar. Extensive renovation works were carried out in 1855 when the church acquired its current appearance. In the church, you can see J. Deering's altar painting The Ascension of Christ (1860) and the organ with 25 registers that was rebuilt by A. Martin in 1860.
