During Livonian Order period there were several free villages in the Lipaiķi district, managed by a local social and ethnic group – The Curonian Kings, the descendants of Curonian nobility. In the chronicles of 1567 the church was referred to as a small wooden building. Later a stone church was built, which underwent several reconstructions.

Lipaiki Church is an architectural monument of national significance, but the church altar, organ prospect, pulpit and stained glass are art monuments of national significance.
