Oleri Manor

Arriving at Oleri Manor, feel the old way of life of the old country manor. The creative family of artists – Kārlis and Ieva Zemīši, who currently manage the manor – kindly open the doors of their house, offering excursions around the manor and landscape garden, as well as organizing concerts and Garden story (“Dārza stāstu”) events.

The origins of the place can be traced back to the 16th and 17th centuries, when it was ruled by the von Engelhart family and from 1836 by the von Kridener family. Agriculture, animal husbandry and forestry in the 18th and 19th centuries were the main areas of the manor’s economic activity, while at the end of the 19th and early 20th centuries the manor became a popular hunting ground. During the Soviet years, a school operated in the manor complex, during the existence of which the landscape underwent radical stylistic changes – symmetrical linden alleys were planted, but the building was planted with dasiphoras and thuja.

At the end of the eighties, with the beginning of the Latvian National Awakening, the current owners became the owners of Oleri Manor, investing in the following years in restoring the manor’s building components, enriching the historical landscape and creating an earlier landscape garden according to the traditions of mid-19th century romanticism gardens.

Not far from the manor is the ~ 1 km long Oleri Bog Nature Trail with a footbridge and a lookout tower.

You can spend the night in the cozy guest rooms of the manor with a view overlooking the garden.
