Zalenieki
Zaļenieki (formerly Zaļā muiža (Green Manor)) is a village in the Zalenieki parish of Jelgava municipality. Located on the right bank of Tērvete near the motorway P95 22 km from the center of Jelgava and 66 km from Riga.
The village of Zalenieki was built near the former Zaļā muiža (Green Manor) (Grünhof). The present manor house was built in 1768. In 1920 it was expropriated for the benefit of the state and a state gymnasium in Zaļenieki was established there. From 1935, the State Zaļenieki School of Housekeeping was established in the castle, which in Soviet times became a soviet technical school, and in 1999 - a vocational school in Zaļenieki. In 1970s to technical school were added collective farms «Pavasaris» and «Zaļenieki». Zaļenieki became a farm center with manufacturing and service infrastructure.
In Zaļenieki there is a parish administration, a primary school, a commercial and craft school, a kindergarten, a post office, a culture house, a library, several shops, a doctorate. Zaļenieki manor house with park is an architectural monument of national importance.
