Zaķu pļava (Meadow of hares)
The Zaķu Meadow (Zaķu pļava, Meadow of hares) is located in the nature park “Vilce”. In the 1960s through 1980s, pioneer camps, tourist meet-ups, various events and concerts were organised at the Zaķu Meadow. At this time, it is an area very popular with tourists, who can go for a walk to Vilce Castle Mound and its observation platforms, or try a new pedestrian bridge over River Vilce, which offers a view of sandstone outcrops on the left bank of the rapid River Rukūze. Zaķu Meadow, located near the castle mound, features a recreation area with tables, benches and several places where bonfires may be made. There is also an area for tents, therefore travellers may want to include Zaķu Meadow on their maps if they are planning a longer walk.
