Vestiena Lutheran Church

The Vestiena church on the shores of Lake Kāla was deliberately burned down during the Soviet occupation. Today, parish meetings take place in one building of the Vestiena manor complex.

Vestiena Lutheran Church was built in the 18th century. In 1590, the first wooden church was built on the shore of Lake Kāla. In the 17th century, the first stone church was built in its place, in 1744 the third church was built in a row. The church burned down for the second time in 1974. The church will not be rebuilt after the fire.
