Tirza Lutheran Church

The oldest church in Gulbene Municipality was built according to the project of the architect F.Ziegel. It was consecrated in 1826. It is a unified hall-type masonry church of white-plastered boulders and bricks with the decorative elements of facades typical of classicism – pilasters, profiled cornices, etc. Next to the church, the family chapel of Baron Ceimern is located. It was built in 1781 – made of boulders and bricks, with a brown-painted door, above which the coat of arms carved in granite is located. After World War I, it was no longer used and was abandoned to its fate. During the Soviet era, the chapel was neglected and was used as a garbage dump. The plaster was damaged both inside and outside. In 2005, the chapel was renovated. Now it belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tirza.
