Swedish Hat
The recreation centre's summer offer includes a toboggan run, horseback riding, fishing in the Abava, a venue for larger events by the riverside, a stage and camping grounds and all the year round – a café and accommodation in small cabins.
A legend has it that "The Swedish Hat" hill is a burial site. The mound is said to have been built over the final resting place of a Swedish military commander and his wife during "The Swedish War" in the 17th century. Swedish soldiers carried soil in their hats to heap over the graves, and a linden and an oak have been planted in remembrance.
The Swedish hat is located on the left bank of the picturesque River Abava valley between Kandava and Sabile.
