Smilšu Street 2, Riga

In Rīga at Smilšu street 2 lies a residential apartment building, built in 1902 by architect Konstantīns Pēkšēns. Wide windows on the first floor were modelled by architect Paul Mandelstamm. It is one of the best examples of Riga`s Art Nouveau architecture. Red bricks, as well as colourful tiles are used as the finish of façade.

The façade of the building is decorated with various Art Nouveau reliefs and sculptures, but mansard windows are decorated with stylized motif of the Sun.
