Memorial stone to Augusts Bīlenšteins

The monument unveiled in the garden of Dobele Evangelic Lutheran church is dedicated to Augusts Bīlenšteins (1826 – 1907), a pastor of a German parish and an outstanding researcher of the Latvian language and ethnography. For almost 40 years, he served as a pastor of the German parish of Dobele.
