Lake Puze

Lake Puze is on the southwest of Puze parish, on the left from the road from Ventspils to Rīga and is one of the deepest lakes in Latvia. It is a popular fishing place. The average depth of the lake is 11m, maximum depth – 34m. It is famous because the cat fish and exotic fish called the smelt (minnow type fish; it is transparent and smells like cucumber) are living there. A lot of pikes, basses, breams, tenches and zanders are living in the lake.
