Kaļķa Street Quarter is a new cultural, leisure and working environment in Kuldīga, developing in a former industrial area next to the historic city centre. The area is home to a complex of six buildings, many of which have been vacant for decades. Now the developers of the quarter have already renovated some of the buildings.

The one-and-a-half-hectare former industrial area is home to the DUNA brewery, the piano workshop of internationally renowned master craftsman David Klavins, the Rudys Brewing CO beverage factory, the Curonija coffee roastery, etc.

Combining a modern workspace, a well-maintained public environment and recreational opportunities, "Kaļķa iela kvartāls" will be a place to work, relax and create new ideas together.

From an area with unattractive production buildings, to a creatively industrial and modern quarter with small production facilities, workshops, cafes where a tourist can not only spend time or see, but also be present in various manufacturing processes the Kalku Street block has developed.

There are currently five production facilities operating in the Kalku Street block, almost all of which, outside of their daily activities, also engage in social events, hosting guests and showing workshops and production processes.

The largest and most active production facility is the Duna brewery, where it is possible not only to buy and taste products, but also to see and explore brewing processes and nuances. Duna is an independent, small brewery created by beer and taste professionals.

Even next door is the Curonia Coffee Roastery, where you can enjoy a special coffee and see the coffee roasting processes. A truly wonderful cup of coffee encompasses a whole story, so the owner of the coffee roast, Sagaida every coffee lover, with interesting stories, facts, tastings and discoveries that will make you taste coffee in a whole new way.

A metal processing company that offers a variety of welding and forging services from building materials to modern interior design artwork is also active in the block.

Most recently, a Texas-style BBQ restaurant, “KOPA,” has opened its doors in the block, where you can enjoy delicious meals as well as see the cooking process, as in addition to traditional cuisine, a variety of barbecues have been created outside here that cook particularly unique.

Visitors to the Kalku Street block have the opportunity to experience true music magic, see the unseen and hear fantastic experience stories from the world's renowned unique piano builder, Davids Klawain, who has moved his manufacturing site from Hungary straight to the Kalku Street block. “Clavin Piano” builds a unique-design piano that is unrepeatable and attracts not only to its design but also to its magical sound.

In the courtyard of the Kalku Street block – in the centre itself, during the summer season, tables with seating positions are placed, the area is decorated with leaflets and events are actively organised, where, in cooperation with Clavin Piano, Latviijā and musicians and artists known in the world, visitors are given the opportunity to enjoy fantastic concerts, tasting the products produced there in parallel.

The Kalku Street blocks are popular not only with the local population, but also with visitors from Latvia and the world. It continues to evolve and improve continuously, offering an increasingly diverse environment for entrepreneurs and cultural users.
