Environmental Art Object “Latvian Sun”

Environmental art object “Latvian sun” was installed in Talsi, on Udens street by order of Talsi County Council. Masterplan developed by SIA “Lejnieku projektēšanas birojs”, architect Mikus Lejnieks.

The author and creator of the idea of the environmental art object “Latvian Sun”, sculptor Ojārs Arvīds Feldbergs, who made the Sun in the polished bronze, which holds Latvia on its rays, and the beam forms a spherical symbol representing light. It is based on a cylindrical, polished, gray-colored granite pedestal with an opening that allows anyone to stand under the bronze sun, thus figuratively agreeing with the Sun and Latvia.


The area to be renovated is about 1000 m2, it is in the city center near Lake Talsi

The main emphasis was placed on the new square in the form of a circle with the centerpiece of environmental art. Coverage – pavement of various shades and materials, sown lawn, greenery. Territory improvement provides the opportunity for people with movement, vision and hearing disabilities to move. For people with visual impairments, special cobblestones are installed on major pedestrian paths and in places of level change.
