Edole, Latvia

Edole is located 180 km from Riga, 10 km from Alsunga, 5 km north-west of Ivande (18 km from Kuldigi). Ēdole District (kiligunda Edualia) was first mentioned in chronicles in 1229 after the division of Kurzeme in 1253 between the Livonian Order and the Bishop of Courland Henry – Ēdole was among those plots that received the bishop, and belonged him to the middle of the XVI century
