Baznīcas iela, Riga
Baznīcas Street is a street in Riga, in the Center district. Baznicas Street starts at Elizabetes Street and ends at the intersection with Bruņinieku Street. There is one-way traffic on the street from Elizabetes Street. In the middle of the intersection with Gertrudes Street is Riga's Old St. Gertrude Lutheran Church, which gave the street its name.
The name New Church Street was given in 1813, creating a street. 19th century 60s street was renamed the Church Street, by the late 70 s of last century, the street's parallel name was Gertrude Church Street. The street was renamed Eduard Veidenbaum Street since 1941, but during the German occupation it became Loudon Street (Loudon Straße, on behalf of he feldmarshal and General isimus Ernest Gideon von Laudon)). In 1994 the street was restored to its present name.
