The Orthodox Congregation of Aderkaši was formed in the middle of the 19th century. The church was built in 1867, and church services were held in Latvian. An Orthodox believer, Jānis Līcītis (Straumīte), who is the author of the book Notes of the Latvian Orthodox Believer (Pareizticīgā latvieša piezīmes), and K. Blodons, who is known as the author of the Orthodox school books, were the priests of the congregation for many years. The church is an architectural monument of local importance.
